The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a fantastic robot vacuum that comes with a range of smart features that make it more easy to maintain than most competing models. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the most impressive features we've seen in a robotic vacuum. It is a great choice for both carpets and hard floors. The app guides you through the entire process. It's also easy to use and set up. Its ability to restart the same place it left off during our tests is an additional impressive feature. It did this for 77 minute on one cleaning before the battery died.
The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums that we tested comes with a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt container on its charging base once it's full. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However it still needs to be manually empty at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dust bin can hold 2.4L that is enough to last through four to five cleaning sessions.
Similar to the i7, this model also uses the latest floor sensors to create maps and navigate in neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only keep one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7 is also able to use its map to create no-go zones as well as virtual barriers, however the i3+ EVO cannot.
The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing debris from the surface when compared to other robovacs we've examined, but it's not the best in cleaning corners and edges. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It moved chairs away from walls, and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and was stuck to cords and toys while testing.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro is an excellent option, whether you're expanding your robot vacuum collection or just starting out. It offers a sleek design with powerful navigation and effective automation at a reasonable price. It's the best value for the money on the market right now, and it even matches some Roborock models that are much more expensive in many ways.
This robot does a great job of cleaning floors with no dust and its avoidance technology helps it steer clear of furniture legs and other obstacles. It also does well on carpets and gets an excellent score in our tests of navigation. It's only downside is that it's louder than other models, and doesn't perform as well in our owner-satisfaction and predicted reliability tests.
The Q5 Pro has a very large 770ml dust bin that means you don't have to empty it as frequently as other 2-in-1 robots. The Q5 Pro's 240-minute run time is also a lot when contrasted with other 2-in-1 robots we have tested. If the battery is low, it automatically returns to its dock where it recharges and resumes cleaning from where it began. You can control the Q5 Pro via the app and use voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
This is one of the first robots we've seen to incorporate 3D mapping. This along with other advancements has helped it perform exceptionally well in our vacuuming tests and mopping test. The iMop excelled in our assessment of the effectiveness of navigation and coverage and was adept at avoiding obstacles, including furniture. It also finds its way to the base station in case it is unable to recharge its batteries during a cleaning session.
Suggested Reading comes with a spot cleaning mode that allows you to clean or mop the specific area of your floor. It can also be manually programmed to follow a specific direction. This is ideal for narrow hallways or stairs. It was capable of cleaning carpets in our carpet cleaning test, but it struggled with higher pile carpets and rugs.
